Configuring internet based applications to use the AnalogX Proxy

After installing AnalogX proxy on the internet connection source computer, in the client systems, you need to configure applications such as Instant messengers, Internet Explorer, Live Update etc.

Configuring Yahoo! Messenger

  • Open Yahoo! Messenger and select Preferences from the Login menu

  • Click Connection menu in the left. Select Use Proxies radio button in the right

  • Check the option Enable HTTP Proxy

  • In the Server-name, type-in the IP address of the Internet connection source computer (say 192.168.0.1)

  • Type-in the Port number as 6588

Configuring AOL Instant Messenger

  • Open AOL Instant Messenger and click Setup button

  • In the Connections tab, enable Connect using Proxy

  • Choose HTTPS protocol

  • In the Proxy Server - Host, type the IP of the Internet connection source computer (say 192.168.0.1)

  • Type-in the Port number as 6588

  • Leave the Authentication fields blank (blank username & password)

Configuring Internet Explorer

  • Open Internet Explorer and choose Internet Options in the Tools menu

  • In the Connections tab, click LAN Settings

  • Enable the option "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN"

  • In the Address field, type the IP address of the Internet connection source computer (say 192.168.0.1)

  • Type 6588 for the Port field

  • Click OK, OK and close Internet Explorer
