How do I disable the Welcome Screen?

To disable the Welcome Screen and replace it with the classic Windows 2000 style login screen, try these steps:

• Click Start, Run and type Control Userpasswords
• Click Change the way users log on or off
• Uncheck Use the Welcome Screen box
• Click Apply Options button

Note

• Fast User Switching will also be turned Off when Welcome Screen is turned Off
  
• Disabling Welcome Screen does not mean XP will automatically login. It still prompts for password using Classic Logon. You need to configure automatic login separately. See this page
• Disabling Welcome Screen also removes the User picture from the top of Start Menu
