How to show file extensions for all file types?

By default, file name extensions for known file types are hidden. To See All File Extensions in the Desktop and Windows Explorer, follow this:

  • Click Start, Control Panel
  • Double-click Folder Options
  • Click the View tab
  • Uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types check box
  • Click OK
